Law Cup postponed

Date published: 17 January 2016

The law cup fixture scheduled for today (Sunday 17 January) has been postponed.

Heavy snowfall last night and the freezing temperatures mean that the public areas in and around Spotland are deemed unsafe.

The club also took into account the safety of supporters, players and staff travelling to the fixture by car.

A club spokesperson said: "The Spotland pitch was rated as 50/50 at best early this morning but the amount of work needed to clear snow off the covers, from the car park and the gangways was too much of a task, given the doubts over the pitch.

"We have identified Sunday 31 January as a potential re-arrangement date but this is subject to confirmation from both the RFL and Oldham RLFC, who have to consider player availability and the eary start of their league season the following week.

"We hope to make a further announcement early next week.

"All tickets and hospitality purchased for the game will still be valid if the game is to be re-arranged. Refunds will be made available once the fixture is confirmed."
