Littleborough RUFC U16s 38 - 17 Old Brodleians

Date published: 22 March 2016

On a perfect early afternoon for rugby in the heart of Littleborough both teams were up for the task from the off and Boro wowed a packed out crowd with some scintillating rugby.

Littleborough were the quickest off the mark showing their intentions early on with an explosive opening try down the wing from Cole Conley in the first five minutes.

Old Brodleians found themselves on the back foot again and could not cope with the torrent of Boro forwards crashing over the game line particularly from the likes of forwards Jack Wilson and Jordan Shaw. Terrance James took on three defenders to slam in the second try of the game, converted by George Roberts.

Old Brodleians didn't lie down easy and give up, finding some space on the wing to sprint clear just before the break to make it 12-5 at the break.

Littleborough opened up to play an expansive game with exceptional handling from Josh Jones and Shea Gibson to open up the opposition’s defence allowing Matthew McCormick to score another try in what has been a fruitful campaign so far followed by a conversion from the boot of Roberts.

Old Brodleians would not stop battling and fought back with a two more tries and a conversion, including a great individual try by the centre in the far corner.

The day and the victory went to Littleborough with further tries for Cole, Callum Taylor and Mathew Hayden securing a solid team performance much to the delight of raucous crowd.

This win is on the back of a fantastic season for the Littleborough lads and sets them up for an Easter weekend when they tour in Amsterdam.
