Date published: 09 July 2016
The Township of Origin
The Township of Origin series sees it's first games played this weekend as teams from across the borough play a curtain raiser at Spotland Stadium.
The Origin Series sees players put forward by their schools represent their Township for the bragging rights of the borough.
The teams are formed from schools competitions with the aim of feeding into community clubs.
The squads went through their final preparations this week with head coaches Chris Coop and Micheal Ratu (Middleton), James Tilley (Penine) and Ben Bird (Heywood).
The Rochdale Township team, which trains at Mayfield in Castleton, will play in the next round of fixtures early in the new school year.
