Mayfield Preview

Date published: 15 July 2016

Mayfield entertain Wigan St Pat's in the quarter final of the Conference Challenge Trophy on Saturday.

The sides have met once this season with Mayfield coming out on top in the league fixture 22 – 12 back in May.

Mayfield go into this game on the back of a good win last week against Egremont, where they played some of their best rugby along with some of their worst.

Pat's also had a good win, away at Lock Lane, so they will be full of confidence.

Mayfield coaches Calland and Butterworth have a strong squad to select from and could rest a couple of players after playing three games in eight days.

Calland and Callum Marriott are expected to be fit after missing out last week due to injury while Aidan Gleeson is still out suspended.

The Mayfield crowd will be looking forward to this one and will be hoping for a repeat of the second half performance from last week when the Sheridan brothers tore the Egremont defence apart.

Also impressive last week were Rhys Carruth Chris Hough and Jack Rush.

There is a fundraising event on at the club as well which will go on into the night.

The event has been organised by Donna Sheridan in to raise funds for son Declan, and Jack Rush, who have been selected for the England young Lions side and are embarking on a tour of Canada later in the year.

The event is free and open to all - anyone interested in donating or sponsoring the players can do so by contacting Paul Scanlon Wells at the club.
