Rochdale inter-Mosque tournament
Date published: 23 August 2016
Mosques and Islamic institutes from across Rochdale, Bury and Oldham came together to participate in a football tournament.
The winners were ‘Werneth Jamia Mosque (Oldham)’ in an enthralling final where they beat ‘Alif Academy Oldham’.
Dewan Choudhury, Volunteer at Youth Connections, said: “We as Muslims have to be the walking, talking Islam.
"Our character should demonstrate the real image of Islam, as opposed to the image portrayed by the media and those trying to hijack the religion.
"The tournament, along with bringing unity in the community, was also a great way of promoting fitness, friendship and most of all fun."
This tournament was organised annually by Youth Connections and sponsored by WCCA, CommuniTea, BACP and Arif Grocers.
