Witts shines with all-round show

Date published: 15 September 2016

Michael Witts turned in an outstanding performance for the Greater Manchester League’s Under-14s side as they dominated the Michael Roche Trophy final against the Lancashire League Juniors at Crimble.

The Heywood protégé was the main batsman on the day to master the conditions, and his 69 opening the innings enabled the Manchester side to reach 158-6 from their 40 overs.

Then Witts took over behind the wicket to pull off three stumpings as the Lancashire League side never really got to grips with the run chase.

They were eventually bowled out for 90 to leave the Manchester youngsters celebrating and Witts undoubtedly the unofficial Man-of-the-Match.
