Rochdale began the new season against Stockport Bramhall Ladies on Saturday and right from the push back Rochdale showed no mercy, chasing down every ball, not allowing Stockport to settle, and ensuring a comprehensive victory.

Leading from the front, captain Jenny Banks opened the scoring, quickly followed by a second from Roisin Pickering.

By half time, Jenny Banks had claimed her second of the the game and Rochdale were three goals to the good.

Rochdale sat back and soaked up the pressure from Stockport early in the second half.

Paula McDonald gave a magnificent performance in midfield, allowing Rochdale to play a quick counter attacking game which paid off with two further goals from Becky Knowles and a third from Jenny Banks.

The game finished a convincing 6-0 to Rochdale, although it wasn't all their own way, with defender Alex Bedford brilliantly clearing a short corner off the line.

Captain Jenny Banks said: "It's great to get off to such a winning start, all our hard work on the training ground on a Tuesday has paid off and we can take great confidence in to next week's cup game against Bury".
