Connor Burton through to England Boxing Youth Championships

Date published: 17 February 2017

North West boxing Champ Connor Burton has boxed his way to the England Boxing Youth Championships taking place in Rotherham this weekend (17-19 February).

Connor, 18, who boxes for Middleton Select ABC in Langley along with his twin, Callum, took on his first opponent in the quarter finals on Friday afternoon, and won by unanimous point decision against Levi Dennis from Attleborough Boxing Club.

He has won the North West Junior ABA Boxing Championships and Schoolboys Championships for the last four years.

Head coach, Martyn Lynch, said: “I’m very proud of him. He’s done very well and he’s had some hard fights at the regionals and pre-quarter finals. He seems confident enough and hopefully he’ll do well.”

Connor will face his next opponent, Charles Frankham, who is number two in the world, on Saturday during the semi-finals.

Speaking about his upcoming fight, the teenager simply said: “I can’t wait.”
