Rugby Union: Littleborough Seconds 37 -7 Eccles Seconds

Date published: 03 April 2017

Five first half tries continued to feed Littleborough Seconds a slim promotion hopes as Eccles Seconds were taken apart at Rakewood.

A quick and pulsating start to the game began with immediate scrum dominance for Littleborough that would in the end gift number eight Josh Ellidge the simple task of dotting the ball down over the try line.

Littleborough's Andy Walton took three defenders out of the equation with a perfectly weighted pass for winger Jordan Turner to dive over in the right hand corner.

Fy half Danny Lawlor scored the first of his two tries making use of the overlap again on the right hand side to score Littleborough's third.

Eccles were being dismantled by a Boro side making very few mistakes, making big line breaks and making thumping tackles, but they did manage to register their only points of the game with a score from a quick tap penalty that was worked well to the outside.

Littleborough weren't about to let their good work go to waste and let Eccles back into proceedings.

Joel Rawlinson capitalised on a poor clearance kick from the Eccles left winger to break through and dive down in the right hand corner.

Rawlinson turned provider as his clever running line and offload out of the tackle from a flowing move gave Chris Collins all the time in the world to dot down behind the posts.

Half time: Littleborough Seconds 30 -7 Eccles Seconds

In comparison to the try extravaganza of a first half, the second half was a drab affair. Both teams struggled to make the most of the possession presented to them and only at the last play of the match was there anything to shout about.

A terrific late pass from Walton and a superb running line from Lawlor saw the latter cruise under the sticks for his second and add the perfect ending to an impressive all-round team performance.
