Cricket: Norden win Tom Hardman T20 match against Heyside via super over decider
Date published: 05 June 2017
A little bit of Norden history was made on Friday night when Norden featured in their first super over decider.
Their Tom Hardman T20 match at Heyside ended level on 144 each.
Heyside scored eight in their one over, losing professional Bilal Khiljee in the process. Stags replied with 10 in five deliveries, Josh Tolley rounding off with two boundaries.
Heyside’s 144 for four was mainly due to Khiljee, who made 65 before being bowled by Hashum Malik, and Max Power who hit 48.
Norden lost Tolley, Malik and Naveed Zamurad before the total had got past 30, but Steve Pimm and Ash Gowers put them back in contention.
Pimm smacked a hard-hitting 34 before going leg before, and Gowers scored 25.
When he was out Norden were on 111 and the balance looked to be back with Heyside, especially with the overs running down.
Greg Butterworth put on an unbeaten 27, surviving what looked a valid appeal for caught behind, and Rehan Udwadia smacked a four off the last possible delivery of the 15 overs to tie the scores and bring on the super over.
