Rochdale looking for first win of the season against Doncaster

Date published: 11 September 2017

Rochdale are in action at the Crown Oil Arena on Tuesday when Doncaster Rovers are the visitors for the League One fixture.

Dale will be looking for an improvement on a start to the new season that has so far been without a win. Three draws and three losses from the opening six games has left Dale fourth from bottom.

Dale, who were comfortably beaten by Blackburn on Saturday, will again be without captain Ian Henderson who is serving a suspension following his sending off against Southend.

Dale mamager Keith Hill said: “They are a big club - they were a Championship side just four seasons ago.

“You knew they would bounce back from relegation with Fergie [Darren Ferguson, Doncaster Manager] at the helm and the calibre of players that they have got.

"They are a good side – we watched their game against Northampton and we kept a keen eye on what they have been doing previously.

“They played really well in patches against Northampton at the weekend and they probably should have got something from the game.”

Doncaster's start to the season has only been marginally better with just one win, three draws and two losses from the opening six games. Whilst that puts Doncaster five places above Dale in the table, just three points separate the teams.

Doncaster lost at Northampton on Saturday to a goal scored in the first thirty seconds, despite laying siege to the Northampton goal in the last ten minutes of the game. Speaking after the game, Doncaster captain James Coppinger said "there’s no doubt that we can score goals" and added "it is up to us to go to Rochdale on Tuesday and do it then".
