Rochdale's fixture against Wigan Athletic at the Crown Oil Arena on Tuesday night has been postponed.
It follows a pitch inspection by a local referee on Monday morning. With only one dry day in over a week, the ground staff, despite their best efforts, have faced an uphill struggle against the elements.
Since last weekend’s postponement, the club has been in daily contact with EFL, and a number of options have been explored, including reversing Tuesday night’s fixture and the potential of playing the game elsewhere. These routes of enquiry have been unsuccessful, and the game has had to be called-off.
Following professional advice, the club is implementing in a drill and fill solution, which will be put into action on Wednesday, weather depending.
The club says it will continue to seek advice from pitch experts and remain in contact with the EFL.
A new date for the match has yet to be confirmed.
