Sailing: Andy Carter shows his experience at Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club

Date published: 06 April 2018

When Club Commodore Andy Carter takes to the water in a Topper, his long experience in these dinghies shows, as he won the second and third races on Sunday 1 April.

Adam Din won the first race in a Laser and then raced, as crew, with Stuart Bates in a Merlin Rocket. Their scores of second and third places in two races meant they were runners-up for the day.

Chris Massey, in his RS300, usually out in front, came unstuck in the third race with a course error so was third placed overall.

The closest racing of the day, in the moderate and shifty north-westerly wind was in the Junior Toppers. Here, Jacob Din was a consistent fifth place in all three races, ahead of Jasper Bramwell.

However, in the third race, Jasper seized an opportunity at the last rounding mark to gain the inside place and reach the finish a second or two ahead of Jacob.
