Boxing: Kai Whitehead beats Aman Hafeez by split-decision

Date published: 16 April 2018

Aman Hafeez, of Hamer Boxing Club, though losing put in a terrific performance when he entered the ring for the very first time against Kai Whitehead of Littleborough Boxing Club.

Both boxers stood toe-to-toe whilst exchanging punishing blows throughout the three rounds but the victory was awarded to Whitehead via a split-decision.

Hamer coach Steven Connellan said: "We had Aman matched and ready to box a couple of weeks ago, only to be told that his opponent hadn't turned up.

“The boxing season is coming to an end soon, so we desperately wanted to get him a match before then and when the opportunity to box Whitehead came up we decided to take it, although the Littleborough lad had entered the ring before on six previous occasions.

“It was a very entertaining contest for the fans which could have gone either way but in the end Whitehead's experience give him the edge."
