Cricket: Heywood Cricket Club teams for the weekend

Heywood’s senior side face a double weekend challenge (5 and 6 May) as they bid to kickstart their Greater Manchester League season.

They entertain Woodhouses at home on Saturday in their third Premier League fixture, keen to get off the mark after losses in the two opening games.

The following day they go to Oldham area club Moorside in the first round of the Derek Kay First XI Cup.

The second team have started brightly with two wins in their opening Division Four East games, followed by a defeat of Clifton in the Second XI Cup first round.

They bid to maintain their momentum for the next league assignment at Woodhouses on Saturday.

The third team start their campaign at home to Brooksbottom on Sunday.

  • Heywood First XI (versus Woodhouses, home, Saturday, 1pm): T Townsend (captain), R Cross, A Kerr, D Pawson, S Burrill, J Morley, R Paterson, A Dawson, D Latham, S Dawson, T McQuinn.
  • Heywood First XI (versus Moorside, away, Sunday, Derek Kay First XI Cup 1st rnd, 1pm): Same team as above.
  • Heywood Second XI (versus Woodhouses, away, Saturday, 1.30pm): M Grogan (captain), S Evans, R Bennett, C Kaye, C Booth, D Fawcett, L Clarkson, M Witts, K Nugent, T Pagett, J Kaye.
  • Heywood Third XI (versus Brooksbottom, home, Sunday, 2pm): R Smethurst (captain), R Purser, P Dawson, J Keyworth, J Mills, L Jackson, O Thomas, T Sullivan, H Graham-Scott, J Carter, J Kaye.
