Rochdale & District Riding Club moves to Accrington

Date published: 25 May 2018

A weight restriction on a bridge has forced Rochdale & District Riding Club to move from Roch Valley Way and all future competitions will now be held at Croft Top Equestrian Centre, Accrington.

A spokesperson for the club said: “We did lease the ground from United Utilities and the lease has now been terminated.

“Unfortunately, a weight restriction of three tonnes has been imposed on the bridge which made the ground inaccessible to any vehicle over this weight, so we were unable to continue running our events at Roch Valley Way.

“The termination of the lease was mutually agreed between both parties, we had many good years whilst leasing the ground from them.

“The weight restriction on the bridge was disappointing for both parties.

“Rochdale & District Riding Club is still going strong, with training clinics, riding lessons, dressage and show days at Croft Top Equestrian Centre.”
