Football: Daniel Adshead signs first professional contract

Date published: 05 September 2018

Daniel Adshead has signed his first professional contract at Rochdale Football Club.

Adshead, who turned 17-years-old on Sunday, has signed a three-year deal.

The talented midfielder has been at the club since he was eight and became Rochdale’s youngest-ever player when he made his senior debut in Dale’s Checkatrade Trophy tie against Bury in September 2017.

Having made his EFL debut in December 2017 away at Doncaster Rovers, he was in the starting eleven as Dale returned to Doncaster a week later in the third round of the FA Cup.

Adshead has since gone on to feature regularly for the first team, making nine appearances to date.

He said: “I know everyone says it, but it’s a dream come true.

“I’ve been working hard since I started playing football to become a professional footballer, so I am really happy.

“I have been at the club for nine years and I have a special bond with it - I love it here.”
