Mayfield A travelled to Wigan on Friday night looking to sew up a top two finish in the league and a home play-off fixture.
The last meeting between the two, in a cup game at Wigan, was marred by poor sportsmanship as the Wigan side fielded a virtual first team and were allowed to ‘strong-arm’ their way to a victory, so the young Mayfield side were determined to gain revenge for that defeat.
They did so in style, against a St Pats side again bolstered by first team players, scoring quality four tries and holding on in defence to take the game and the two league points.
A last game of the season victory next weekend against Pilkingtons, will see Mayfield take the league leaders shield, and set them up well for the end of season, top four play-offs.
