Hockey: Rochdale Men’s Seconds 5 - 3 Didsbury Men’s Sixths

Date published: 09 October 2018

Rochdale Men’s Second team beat Didsbury Northern Sixths, a team which they have previously performed poorly against and had not any encounter.

The game started at a high tempo and was flowing well for Rochdale until Didsbury found a quick counter and scored the first goal.

Rochdale came back strongly and were pressing high and hard, creating lots of chances and eventually scored an equaliser.

However, by half time Rochdale were 3-2 down.

Early in the second half, Rochdale equalied and put themselves on the front foot, helped by Didsbury Northern having two players sent off, giving Rochdale an advantage for two minutes each time.

Rochdale pushed on and gained the lead for the first time in the game.

With 10 minutes to play it was still very open but with Didsbury pressing into the Rochdale half, the Rochdale defence stood strong and played out from the back, with a quick counter attack that resulted in the winning goal.

Man-of-the-match - Aaron Hunter, who scored a hat-trick.
