Vote for Wardle FC to receive new clubhouse funds in latest round of Aviva Community Fund

Date published: 24 October 2018

Wardle FC needs your help to receive funding for their clubhouse, which is in desperate need of repair.

Quotes for the club to improve their dilapidated clubhouse are in the region of between £30,000 and £50,000.

The club needs your help to get as many votes as possible to be in with a chance of receiving £25,000 to get the ball rolling.

Chairman Rik Fielding said: “The club has a purpose-built clubhouse, which has a number of rooms including a small kitchen and cafe area. Unfortunately, the building is no longer fit for purpose in its dilapidated and unsafe state.

“Our plan is to initially make the building water tight and then redevelop the inside, so it can be safe to use again to provide a functional facility and hospitality for the club and local community to use.

“We are heavily reliant on fundraising and as we don't have a safe and secure venue to hold events, we either have to spend money hiring a venue or be subjected to the British weather.

“By having the clubhouse renovated, it would greatly increase our opportunities to hold more fundraising events and promote community spirit which the club prides itself on.”

Wardle FC is run by dedicated volunteers from the committee members to managers and coaches, who give many hours of their free time each week keeping the club running.

Established in 1914, the club has 278 members three adult teams and eight juniors’ teams from U7s to U16s. Wardle Juniors FC was formed in 2013 to promote football in the community from an early age.

The club also runs the ‘aKIDemy’, which currently has 20 children, offering sessions to children under six.

Voting closes on 20 November.
