Rugby Union: Littleborough Ladies 46 - 0 Liverpool Collegiate

Date published: 15 January 2019

In truly atrocious conditions, Littleborough Pink Warriors Ladies secured a precious 46-0 victory over Liverpool Collegiate.

At a very wet and windy Rakewood, Littleborough were much the better side and took their chances against a spirited and resolute Liverpool Collegiate side.

But for admirable defending by the away side's full back, the Pink Warriors could have more points on the scoreboard.

There were some moments of great team rugby played in view of the conditions, which should provide Littleborough with some confidence for their cup tie at Mellish Rugby Club in Nottingham next week.

It was great to see the return of Lorrie Anderson-Booth MBE, who impressed in the back row.

Another who was a shining light in the deluge was Sarah Jane Whittles, the 27-year-old was named forward of the match with an impressive performance in the front row, while Claire Sutcliffe again gained plaudits following her controlled and assured display at fly half.

In preparation for their cup tie next week, the ladies are training at Kingsway on Tuesday evening at 7.00pm, and at Littleborough Sports Club, on Friday evening from 6.45pm. As always new players of any and all abilities are welcome.
