Football: Calvin Andrew nominated for PFA Award

Calvin Andrew has been nominated for the The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player in the Community 2019 by the Dale in the Community Sports Trust.

The Rochdale forward has been an invaluable and integral part of the work of the Community Trust throughout his four-and-a-half year stay at the Football Club.

In 2018, he engaged with over 850 children during 25 player appearances at schools, events at the Soccer Factory, birthday parties and much more.

He also recently visited lifelong Rochdale fan David Clough at his residential home, helping to spread some Christmas cheer.

 

 

Community Trust Assistant Manager Siobhan McElhinney praised the 32-year-old for his work in the community.

She said: “Once again it is a pleasure to select Calvin Andrew as Rochdale AFC’s EFL Player in The Community for 2018.

“Not only is his professionalism recognised on the pitch but his support and professionalism off the pitch for the Community Trust is second to none.

“This is his third consecutive year he has been nominated for the award of which he thoroughly deserves.”

The PFA Player in the Community award recognises players for outstanding commitment to their communities.

A winner is chosen for each of the EFL's three divisions, with an overall winner announced at the EFL Awards evening towards the end of the 2018/19 season.

Last year, Calvin Andrew was named as a 2017/18 PFA Community Champion.
