Boxing: Mixed results for Hamer boys in Hull

Date published: 21 February 2019

11-year-old Austin ‘Powers’ Heneghan and 16-year-old Aman ‘Any Boy Can’ Hafeez from Hamer Boxing Club travelled to North Hull Community Centre on Friday 15 February.

The boys came away with mixed results when Heneghan beat Iyran Walker from Training Cave Boxing Club in his first ever bout for Hamer Boxing Club.

Hafeez lost a close split-decision to boxer Brandon Brearley, also from Training Cave Boxing Club.

Hamer coaches, Frank Maddocks and Matt Lageard, commented: “Both boxers fought extremely well considering their opponents had the better records and were boxing on home turf.

“Austin showed incredible skill and ability for one so young to take the win, and on another day, Aman could have come away with the victory also, that's how close his contest was.”
