Rugby Union: Oldham Ladies Rugby 5 – 86 Littleborough Pink Warriors Ladies

Date published: 26 February 2019

A hat-trick from Olivia Turner and 36 points from Clair Sutcliffe saw Littleborough Ladies overcome neighbours Oldham by 85 points to 5.

Littleborough Pink Warriors Ladies and Oldham Ladies Rugby team were using a free weekend of fixtures to prepare for their next league outings against Workington and Stockport respectively.

And it was the visitors to Oldham's Manor Park who will be the happier having scored 13 tries and only walked away with only one injury to report.

Scrum half Rebecca Park suffered a dislocated finger and is a doubt for next week's game.

With a fantastic blend of youthful exuberance and steady experience alongside a terrific team spirit Littleborough dominated thoroughly and were rewarded for their efforts on a glorious afternoon in the Oldham sunshine.

Not content with having scored last week, the likes of Olivia Turner, Summer Harris and Hannah Mills all added to their burgeoning collection this season.

Turner scored three to make it a perfect weekend for the Carson/Turner household as younger sibling Georgia played a starring role for Lancashire in Doncaster as her start to senior rugby continues on a astronomical course.

Determined not to let the young whippersnappers have all the fun, Georgina Quinn, Chloe Mansell, Harriet Widdup also showed their cutting edge with ball in hand to extenuate the visitors lead.

While Oldham did manage to find their way over the whitewash, further scores from the likes of Samantha Brazier and half back pairing Megan Dickinson and Claire Sutcliffe sealed a well-deserved victory.

Sutcliffe also showed her arrow like boot, piercing the posts with precision as she kicked 11 out of 13 conversions for an 85% kicking success rate.

Littleborough showed their true sporting values lending a number of players to their opponents, and playing the last 25 minutes with 13 players against 15.
