Swimming: Aquabears win stack of medals at the Lancashire County Championships

Castleton-based swimming club Aquabears have returned from the Lancashire County Championships with a stack of medals.

21 members took part in the Lancashire County Championships, which runs throughout weekends in January and February, with many producing personal bests.

Lucy Cannavan, who landed golds in 50 and 100 metres breaststroke, and bronze in 50 metres freestyle and 200 metres individual medley, won awards for both the Junior and the Senior Champion and has qualified for the British championships in Scotland in April.

County champion Xuanming Guo, won gold medals in the following strokes: 100 and 200 metres freestyle, 50 and 100 metres butterfly, 50, 100 and 200 metres breaststroke, 200 metres individual medley, plus a silver for 100 metres backstroke and bronze for 50 metres backstroke.

Medals also went to Amarai Hoque (silver – 50 metres backstroke), Bailey Boyd-Austin (bronze – 50 metres backstroke), Jessica Sunderland (bronze – 100 metres breaststroke) and Kiyanna Hoque (bronze – 100 metres breaststroke).
