Radio presenter Laura Beth becomes Rochdale AFC’s first female match-day announcer
Date published: 25 March 2019
Radio presenter Laura Beth Greenwood became the first female match-day announcer for Rochdale AFC on Saturday (23 March).
Laura Beth, who features on BBC Radio Manchester, Roch Valley Radio and Revolution 96.2, stood in for Dale’s long-standing announcer, Dave Sweetmore, who has announced matches for the past 19 years.
The former Wardle High pupil, 22, said she felt “pretty honoured” in a social media post.
Speaking before Saturday’s game, Dave Sweetmore, also of Revolution 96.2 radio, said: “It’s a great opportunity for Laura, who’s very passionate about her media career which includes a lot of public speaking, and she also has a great taste in music, which is important at Rochdale.
“I think Laura will do a great job and will hopefully be able to stand in again in the future on any occasion I’m unavailable on a matchday.”
