Karate: Umar and Blake in the black

Umar Abdurrahman and Blake Walter

Two members of the DOJO Karate Centre on Castlemere Street, Rochdale, achieved their Black Belt 1st Dan under a strict assessment on Sunday 22 September.

Umar Abdurrahman, 13, and Blake Walter, 10, passed their gradings under Sensei Irfan Ansari, after taking up the sport five years ago.

Sensei Ansari said: “I'm proud of their achievement which has come about from many years of practice and dedication. I hope they use the aspects of goal setting and perseverance to achieve greater things in life and especially in their education.

“A super well-done from all DOJO Members.”
