Free tickets to Rochdale's home games this month for girls aged 11-16

Date published: 08 March 2022

Rochdale AFC is giving away free tickets to all its home games this month to girls aged 11-16 as part of the Her Game Too initiative.

The free tickets, provided by Rochdale AFC Community Trust, are valid for the four home fixtures this month and are available to every girl of secondary school age in the Rochdale borough.

The tickets are being offered to mark Rochdale’s Her Game Too dedicated fixture this weekend against Barrow (Saturday 12 March).

Her Game Too was founded by 12 passionate female football fans in May 2021. They wanted to raise awareness of sexist abuse in football and to also encourage fellow female fans to share their experiences.

Rochdale AFC became an official partner in October 2021 and is reaffirming its support this International Women’s Day (Tuesday 8 March).

There is lots planned around the game on 12 March, including welcoming players from Rochdale AFC Ladies teams to the game to be involved in the matchday itself as flag bearers and the official ball crew.

Representatives from Her Game Too have also been invited to the game, as have The Dale Way podcast duo and other local prominent females will also be invited as guests of the club.

Rochdale AFC chairman Simon Gauge said: “Football is for everyone and this fixture gives us a great opportunity to continue our support of Her Game Too.

“We were proud to become a partner back in October and we look forward to dedicating our game against Barrow to this campaign. We will be celebrating the positive female role models we have connected with the club, but also raising awareness of the key messaging of the Her Game Too campaign.

“As a fan-owned club at the centre of our community, it is important that we create an atmosphere at our ground that is free of sexism and is an environment that is welcoming for women and young girls that will make up our next generation of supporters.

“It has been brilliant to see so more and more clubs getting behind the initiative, and everyone involved in Her Game Too should be commended for what they have achieved over the last 10 months and the impact that they have had and are continuing to have.”
