Paige Travis named in England Women National Performance Squad

Date published: 30 January 2023

Littleborough rugby player Paige Travis has been selected for England Women’s 25-player National Performance Squad, as preparations begin for the mid-season international against France in April.

Travis, a former Hollingworth Academy student, joined St Helens in 2021, and has scored 17 tries in 26 appearances over the two seasons.

The back row was previously selected for the England side in May 2020, and made her international debut in June 2021.

Travis has previously represented Firwood Waterloo and Littleborough Ladies (rugby union).

The fixture at Warrington’s Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday 29 April will be England Women’s first outing since their semi-final appearance at last year’s Rugby League World Cup.

Head of England Women Pathways, Stu Barrow says: “With us having a game so early in 2023 it was important that we selected a National Performance squad as soon as possible.

“The squad will continue to grow and develop throughout the season based on performances of players in the Betfred Women’s Super League and Challenge Cup.

“This is the first step in preparations for the mid-season international but also in the wider journey towards the next Rugby League World Cup in France in 2025.”
