Whitworth fighter fundraising to represent England in Amateur Muay Thai World Championships this summer

A young fighter from Whitworth’s Valley Thai Boxing Club is fundraising to help her represent England this summer.

Imogen Webster, 12, of Whitworth, has been selected to represent England at the Amateur Muay Thai World Championships in Venice, Italy, this June.

Imogen was selected for the team after winning her category at the World Boxing Council tournament in Birmingham last December.

The upcoming event is self-funded, meaning Imogen will have to raise the costs of accommodation, kit, flights and travel arrangements herself.

Imogen’s mum Claire said: “She is extremely talented, and we are very proud of her and what she has achieved already. But it couldn't have been achieved without her coach, Andy Hughes.”

Imogen began boxing when she was about six, and has gone on to achieve a range of titles, including the U44kg European Championship (June 2022), the U42kg Northern (December 2021). She is also a twice-winner of the Sandee Open Championship, having won in 2021 and 2022.

She is sponsored by RRG Rochdale, Triad Fabrications Ltd and Johnny Cocktail.

Donations can be made via GoFundMe:
