Perez brothers presented with certificates by Rochdale mayor

Date published: 27 January 2024

Rochdale’s fighting Perez brothers have each been presented with a certificate of appreciation for exceptional achievement in sport by the Mayor of Rochdale.

Andrew, Ethan and Collin were recently invited to meet the Mayor and Mayoress Mike and Margaret Holly, who presented them with the certificates on Thursday 18 January.

The boys managed to share some of their experiences from 2023 and show some of their medals and belts to the Mayor and Mayoress.

Andrew was crowned the IBJJF European champion in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in December, whilst all three boys won gold in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Junior World Championship during the summer.

Their dad, Carlos, said: "The mayor congratulated the boys several times and thanked them for their valuable contribution on representing in such a positive way their town Rochdale. He said the boys are an inspiration to the young generation and their commitment and discipline is a wonderful example for others to follow.

"Both the Mayor and Mayoress were very impressed with the boys’ achievements and enjoyed listening to each of them talking about their experiences in competitions and about the medals. They also talked about their school life and specific experiences and topics learned. It was a great opportunity and experience once again for the boys."
