Finlay Armstrong signs two year deal with Rochdale AFC

Date published: 06 June 2024

Rochdale AFC has signed former loanee Finlay Armstrong on a two-year deal following the expiration of his contract at Fleetwood Town.

Full-back Armstrong made 13 appearances for Dale whilst on loan from Fleetwood during the second half of last season.

The 21-year-old said: “I’m delighted to rejoin the club on a permanent basis after my time here on loan last season.

“I really enjoyed my stint here and everything about the club. From the fanbase, to the group of players, the manager and the backroom staff, it made it an easy decision to return and commit my future here.

“Hopefully we can be a part of something special in the upcoming season and put the club in a place to be back where it belongs.

“It’s a pleasure to be back. Up the Dale!”

Armstrong began his career with Burnley's academy before turning professional in the summer of 2022.

Whilst at Turf Moor, he spent time on loan at Padiham, Clitheroe, FC United and Curzon Ashton, continuously progressing up the non-league ladder.

The Liverpool-born defender joined Fleetwood permanently last summer, making three appearances for their first team and regularly playing for the development squad, before joining Dale on loan in December.
