Two out at Spotland as Higginbotham rejoins Accrington

Date published: 23 January 2009

Following the loan signing of the Nicky Adams earlier in the week, Rochdale manager Keith Hill has seen fit to trim his squad ahead of tomorrow's visit to Dagenham & Redbridge (Saturday 24 January, 3pm kick off).

Kallum Higginbotham has gone back to Accrington Stanley today, having made five appearances for them during a one month loan spell earlier in the season.

Accrington boss John Coleman was keen to recapture Higginbotham's services after he scored against Stanley in his last Spotland outing.

The young winger has found it hard to break into the Dale first team this season with the emergence of Will Buckley and Joe Thompson, and with Adams' signing it is in the best interests of all concerned for Higginbotham to game some games under his belt elsewhere.

Meanwhile, midfielder Kyle Lambert left Rochdale earlier this week after his six month contract expired. The youngster has been a regular in the Dale reserve side this season but failed to make the step up to first team football.

He has moved to non-league outfit Leigh Genesis and played in their 2-0 defeat to Prescot Cables on Tuesday night.
