Rochdale AFC Centenary Gala Dinner

Date published: 15 May 2007

Monday 14 May marked 100th anniversary of Rochdale Football Club and the eagerly awaited celebrations began with a Centenary Gala Dinner at Rochdale Town Hall.

The dinner, attended by many past Rochdale players, was a sell out and supporters lucky enough to get a ticket heard trips down memory lane as former players spoke of their experiences at the club.

Chairman Chris Dunphy, who opened the proceedings said: "The evening had everything you could have wished for and has without doubt been the perfect curtain-raiser for our centenary celebrations.

"It was especially pleasing to see so many faces from our past, they brought back some fond memories. Even the tales of leaking roofs and poor facilities from years gone by warmed the heart and it shows just how far we have come in our 100 year history.

"I would personally like to thank everyone who attended the event and to the staff at Rochdale Town Hall for all their hard work on the night. I would also like to put on record my thanks to all those who helped make the event the great start it was to our 100th year.

"I truly believe we are on verge of making 2007/08 a year to remember both on and off the field; the journey has just begun."

The official 'Legends' photograph taken in the Town Hall will go on sale shortly in the club shop.
