Top marks for the Spotland pitch
The Spotland pitch has received top marks from the Football League’s Playing Surfaces Committee.
Marks are given to the pitch by the match referee and visiting manager after every home game and the Spotland pitch has received a fantastic score.
All pitches are marked on a five point scale, with Dale being awarded a mark of 4.58 for the first half of the season. This is higher than League Two average, which is 4.12.
Head Groundsman, Oli Makin, commented: “I’m over the moon with the news because it shows that the pitch is as good as it can be.
"We’re above the overall divisional average as well, so it’s nice to hear that we’re doing well and that the hard work is paying off.
“We’re coming into the tougher months now when we will probably see a decline in the weather, so we’ll continue the hard work to get through that period and keep the average up there.”
