Shawclough U10s Thunder 4 - 1 Castleton Juniors U10s
Date published: 25 March 2014
Shawclough U10s Thunder, the current Heywood Mini Soccer League Under 10 Champions, are through to the finals after dominating a game with local rivals Castle Juniors.
Shawclough started strongly with a quick brace of goals. Joshua Warrener scored from a Taylor Wilson corner, heading home on the back post. Mikey Driffield scored with a rocket from a cross off Danyal Johnson.
Castleton Juniors hit back with a shot from outside of the box which left Alex Cockerill unsighted and unable to block the shot.
Shawclough pressure resulted in a penalty, which was dispatched by Danyal Johnson, who hit it so hard, fast and true it left the opposition keeper static.
Danyal Johnson again found the back of the net and the game finished 4-1, despite a late comeback by Castleton who tried in vain to get back into the game in the final 15 minutes.
