Oasis Day at Spotland

Date published: 03 April 2014

Rochdale AFC match day announcer Dave Sweetmore is known for playing some of the best music in the Football League, and for this weekend’s Sky Bet League Two fixture against York City, he’s giving Dale fans the chance to get involved with picking some of the songs.

With August marking 20 years since the release of Oasis’ debut album, Definitely Maybe, Dave will be playing nothing but Oasis tracks at Saturday’s game. He’s on the look-out for supporter’s favourite Oasis songs, which will then be played on matchday.

Dave commented: “Here at Spotland we've gained an amazing reputation for the music we play on a match day as we don’t follow the trends of other grounds around the Football League.

“Much of the music we play is from Manchester based bands, which makes us unique. It’s not uncommon to receive tweets and comments from opposition fans and journalist, who are very complimentary about the music we play.”

“Last season we had Beatles Day at Spotland where we played nothing but Beatles songs as we celebrated 50 years since the Fab Four’s release, and following its success we thought we’d lead the way in marking the 20th anniversary of Manchester’s finest.

“Pre-match and half time music at Saturday's game will be nothing but Oasis tracks, and it would be great if you could get involved by helping pick the songs.”
