Harman hits double century as Norden see off Radcliffe

Date published: 19 May 2014

Simon Harman hit 202, the highest individual score in the history of the Central Lancashire League's JW Lees Bitter Wood Cup, as Norden easily overcame Radcliffe in a first round tie at Woodhouse Lane on Sunday.

Harman also claimed the records for the highest score in CLL limited overs cricket, highest ever score at Woodhouse Lane, and best score by a Norden amateur in the CLL.

He did have one escape when the wicket keeper failed to take a snick, but otherwise he was untroubled as he hit 25 fours and nine sixes - four of those sixes in one over.

With Daniel Salpietro and Nick Brierley each scoring 63 Norden piled up 359 for two in their 50 overs.

Shell-shocked Radcliffe were all out for 111 in reply. Hashum Malik and Ollie Makin each took three wickets.

Stags' seconds made progress in the Burton Cup.

Dean Lord took four for 32 as Radcliffe totalled 166. Rehan Udwadia (44) and Steve Wild (40 not out) saw Norden to 169 for seven.
