New Dale girls football team
Date published: 24 June 2014
A Dale girls under 16s football team has been launched.
Rochdale AFC Football in the Community Trust is looking to set up the newly formed team this summer in preparation for the start of league season, which will get under way in September.
The Trust is inviting girls who will be 15 and under on 1 September to try out for the team on Wednesday 9 July.
The event is taking place at the Soccer Factory between 6pm and 8pm and is free of charge. Those who are interested should just turn up on the evening.
The launch of the new team has been made possible thanks to funding from the FA and the Football League Trust, who have joined forces to increase participation in the women’s game.
Keith Hicks, Head of Dale’s Football in the Community Trust, commented: “Here at Rochdale, we’re really excited to be setting up this new under 16s team. It’s a great opportunity for young women to get involved in the game, whether they’ve played before or are looking to play for the first time. And it’s all about having fun – it will be a pressure free environment.”
