Mayfield Mustangs U12s beat Blackbrook Blues on Sunday (13 July) in the final of the Development Cup held at Preston Grasshoppers RUFC.

It was a close fought first half with Jack Taylor scoring first for the Mustangs, and Ben O’Keefe converting.

Blackbrook levelled the score after 10 minutes.

Folah Arogundade made a strong run for the Mustangs second try, once again Ben O’Keefe converting.

Blackbrook came back strong and scored with only a few minutes remaining of the first half.

Only two points in it at half time.

Mayfield stepped it up in the second half, all the team making strong tackles with Jack Taylor and Folah Arogundade leading the charge to keep Blackbrook at bay.

Jack Taylor scored two more tries for Mayfield as did Callum Connolly scoring another two with Ben O’Keefe adding three more conversions to give the Mustangs a hard fought win.

Coaches Paul O’Keefe, Stan Connolly and Ivan Taylor said they were, "overjoyed with the team and the way they battled in the second half, not bad for a team of lads that have only played together for six months".

Man-of-of-Match: Jack Taylor
