Wardle Juniors FC in parade at Wembley for the Charity Shield
Date published: 13 August 2014
Wardle Juniors Football Club took part in a parade at Wembley Stadium before the Charity Shield event on Sunday 10 August.
Forty-six children and adults from Wardle FC left for Wembley at 4:30am on Sunday morning.
The parade was organised by McDonald’s, who chose 10 grass roots football teams from across the country to be involved.
Rik Fielding, organiser of the club, said: “We approached McDonald’s Kingsway in 2011 in hopes of gaining a sponsorship. We were lucky enough to be accepted, and since then McDonald’s have given us fantastic support.”
“We were so lucky to be selected to be a part of the parade. We aren’t a massive football club, unlike others in the area, so it was great to be chosen.”
“The children were absolutely over the moon to be included in the parade. They really enjoyed it and they were extremely well behaved. We’re so proud of them.”
