Danny Bridge joins Rochdale Hornets

Danny Bridge has joined Rochdale Hornets for the 2015 season.

The 21-year-old Ireland international back rower joins from Warrington Wolves, who signed the former Waterhead junior for an undisclosed fee in 2011 from Wigan Warriors.

The younger brother of Wolves centre Chris, Danny made eight appearences on loan at Bradford Bulls before being recalled by Warrington mid way through the season.

Head coach Ian Talbot commented: “'Danny is a very good ball carrier and excellent defender. He will be a fantastic addition to the back row and im sure he will impress with us next season.”

Bridge is Talbot's 21st signing for 2015 and with half a dozen trialists set to start pre season as well, competition for places looks set to be tough.

Talbot said: “We have some very good lads from the conference league who are looking to earn a deal with us. We have a squad of 21 signed at the moment and we will only add to that with quality. I can’t wait for the season to get going.”

On his move to Hornets, Danny said: “I’m looking forward to getting going. I spoke to Chris Hough a few weeks ago and he really sold the club to me.

“I played my junior rugby with Sean (Casey) and I was coached by Leo (Casey) as well so I know what the club is about. I know Jordan Case as well from our England academy days and Danny Yates. The squad is looking strong and I’m happy to be on board.”

Wayne English and Jordan Case have also put pen to paper this week on 12 month deals, with veteran Dave Llewellyn also agreeing a new deal.

Dave Sutton and Dave Hull are amongst six trialists that will be invited to pre-season with the view to earning a place in the Hornets 2015 League One squad.
