Oldham V Rochdale game postponed
Date published: 20 January 2015
Oldham Athletic have had to postpone tonight’s (Tuesday 20 January) game against Rochdale due to weather conditions and safety fears.
The local derby has been postponed after the pitch and surrounding areas were deemed unsafe due to the recent bad weather.
The Football League decided to postpone the game after taking advice from Oldham Athletic’s Safety Advisory Group.
Chief Executive of Oldham Athletic, Neil Joy, said: "Player and spectator safety are always the primary considerations when determining whether a game can go ahead.
"Areas of the club’s footprint are treacherous and with the ground temperatures not expected to rise above freezing over the next 24 hours and snow forecast before, during and after the game it’s the right decision.
"We would like to thank the Football League for making an early decision to postpone the game and therefore minimising the disruption to supporters of both clubs and look forward to playing the fixture at a time when everyone can enjoy it in a safe environment."
A new date for the fixture will be confirmed at a later date.
