Date published: 25 January 2015

Rochdale Hornets outclassed Rochdale Mayfield in this pre-season friendly with tries from Bloomfield (2), Hargreaves, English, Mignacca, Smith, Hull and Yates with goals from Crook (4) and Case (2). Mayfield hit a consolation try through Kershaw, converted by Lavis.

Dale Bloomfield, on his debut for Hornets, scored the opening try within minutes of the kick off.

Another debutant, Ireland international Brad Hargreaves, added the second and midway through the half Wayne English added the third Hornets try. Crook converting.

Bloomfield got on the end of Ryan Smith's chip for the fourth. Crook again adding the extras.

Mignacca with a try and Crook with the conversion gave Hornets a 26 -0 lead at half time.

Any hopes Mayfield had of getting back into the game in the second half were dealt a blow when Sam Butterworth was red-carded.

Taking full advantage of the extra man, Smith split the Mayfield defence to put Hornets further ahead. Crook adding the extras.

Dave Hull was next to go over the try line for Hornets.  Jordan Case with the conversion.

Mayfield finally got on the score sheet when Rob Kershaw raced his way to the Hornets line. Lavis with the conversion.

The last try of the game came from Danny Yates and Case converted.
