Rochdale Judo Club in championship medal haul

Rochdale Judo Club took a strong team to the Greater Manchester and Cheshire County Judo Championships in Wilmslow on Sunday (21 June) and came away with the largest medal haul of any club.
Every member won a medal, gold, silver or bronze, winning the ‘Manchester Cup’ for the club.
Club Chairman and Sixth Dan, Warren Schofield said: “What an amazing performance from the team. From every age group, from senior heavyweights to the youngest of the juniors, they all showed the determination to succeed that we try to instil in all our judo players.”
The senior team of Ricardo Pina, Dave Hulme, Matt Lodge and Rachel Ford won three gold medals and a silver, whilst the junior team won three gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
The junior team of Serena Cape, Jake Brearley, Taylor Whitehead, Dylan Cape, Jack Sheppard, Adam Walker, Connor Johnson, Liam Ellis and Billy Corns won four Gold, three Silver and two Bronze medals.
The six newly-crowned County champions have also been selected to join the BJA North West Area Judo Squad and will represent the North West of England at national and international events over the next year.
