Smith took six wickets as Norden round off their CLL away programme

Date published: 07 September 2015

Martin Smith took six wickets as Norden rounded off their CLL away programme with a convincing win over Unsworth at Pole Lane.

Stags took first knock and lost Steve Pimm for nought and Simon Harman for two.
But Greg Tattersall and Ash Gowers stuck in for a partnership which lasted 28 overs and was only broken when Tattersall edged a delivery from Mo Munowar to be caught behind by Jeff Keyt for 66.

Norden then lost a clutter of wickets. Dan Buckley was stumped by Keyt off a Liam Richards delivery, Phil Docker was leg before to Richards, and Gowers was out the same way only two short of a half century.

Stags were 126 for five, but the runs started to flow again thanks to skipper Simon North and professional Daniel Salpietro who batted down the order due to an injury.
North became the fourth wicket for Richards when caught by Chris Lord, but by then Stags had 177 on the board.

Salpietro then pushed the total along to 192.

Unsworth’s reply was on three when Smith trapped Jacob Ramsay leg before, and 10 runs later Chris Lord was leg before to Hashum Malik.

Wickets continued to tumble.

Home professional Chris Williams was out for a duck, caught by Chris Hartley, Jon Wiggans was caught by Steve Pimm, and Jeff Keyt was bowled by Malik.

Ash Gowers took a catch behind to see off Aman Arora, Jack O’Brien was caught by Simon North, Mo Munowar was caught by Simon Harman, Alex Blake was caught by North and Richards went leg before to Malik.

Only Blake with 15, O’Brien with 11, and Ben Eckton with 10 not out got into double figures.

Smith finished with six for 43 and Malik took four for 30.
