Fozard in Wales squad

Date published: 29 September 2015

Rochdale Hornets dual registered player Matty Fozard has been selected in the Wales squad for the upcoming European Championship Campaign.

Fozard, who scored three tries in nine appearances last term for the Hornets, is a product of partner club St Helen's and can operate in both the back row and at hooker.

At the back end of the 2015 season it was at hooker in which he nailed down a starting spot, with many likening his style to that of Saints head coach Keiron Cunningham.

Fozard will take his place alongside another former Hornet, Anthony Walker, who also played eight times for Hornets in 2015 scoring five tries.

Walker, who also played 16 times in the Championship in 2014, joined Wakefield on a permanent deal mid-way through 2015.

All at Hornets wish the lads the best of luck in the warm up game at Keighley Cougars and in the tournament itself.
