Hamer Boxing Club receive new kit from Rochdale Glass

Date published: 26 October 2015

Hamer Amateur Boxing Club and Community Fitness Centre has received a donation from Rochdale Glass in the shape of a boxing kit for the new season ahead.

Rochdale Glass representative Simon Walmsley said: "We have known about this well established boxing club for a long time now and feel that they are doing a fabulous job within the community of Rochdale and beyond by getting young people off the streets and teaching them discipline and fitness. We also know that they work in schools and with other community organisations and that they have got a great reputation.

"The club deserves our help and we at Rochdale Glass are delighted that we are involved and associated with such a well grounded club."

Northwest County Champion Adam Earnshaw, 12, said: "The new kit looks great. We are going to look so smart when we step out into the ring, representing our town.

Jay Benson, 15, added: "I am new to this club and this is my first year here. I cannot wait to wear the new kit for the first time.”

National finalist Jude English, 13, said: "We are going to look really slick now, with our new kit. I am so looking forward to wearing it when I box in London when representing the Northwest Squads in December."

Hamer head coach Steven Connellan said: “I am delighted that our club has gained recognition from such a well regarded and very well established local business such as Rochdale Glass. I know that they sponsor lots of professional boxers in and around Manchester and that they are identified as a name within the sport, so we at Hamer feel very proud that we have also been recognised by them and we are honoured to wear their logo on the back of our boxing shirts."
