Rochdale amateur boxer Muhammad Ali Zahid, who won the Haringey Box Cup and was also a national university champion, now plans to turn professional.

“His ambition is fill Rochdale football ground in the near future and working hard consistently.

“Therefore he has turned professional.

"In his amateur days of boxing he won gold at the Haringey Cup and Celtic Cup.

“I was determined to see Muhammad gain an education, which he has done, at the same time as pursuing a boxing career.”

Zahid's debut fight is on Saturday 12 December at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
