Cairngorms Holiday November 2022
On the 24th of November 39 members had a mountain and mistletoe holiday in the Scottish Cairngorms, staying at our favourite hotel in Kingussie, The Duke of Gordon. This was the third time that members had requested this hotel. We enjoyed the festival season come early. The first day being Christmas Eve and the second Christmas day with a visit from Santa Clause bearing gifts for us. We also had mulled wine and carol singing. During our stay we visited Brodie Castle where we walked around the grounds and then onto the town of Inverness. On the second day of our stay we visited “Ben Nevis” distillery at the foot of the highest mountain in Britain. After looking around the distillery we where given a wee dram of whisky and the opportunity to purchase some at a reduced price. We then visited Fort William and a look around the town. On our final day we visited Pitlochry and an opportunity to purchase some Scottish mememtoes. Our final evening at the hotel consisted of some members acting daft, being silly and dressing up in fancy dress. There were three prizes and Glynis won first prize with a cup and £20. All the members said that they had enjoyed the holiday and gave a big thanks to Steve the driver and to Claudette who devised two quizzes to occupy members during the long coach drive. Emily worked very hard to arrange this holiday and the members gave her a big round of applause. Thanks Emily.
